Make-up No No's

There are several things to avoid when putting on your make-up! I thought this might be helpful the next time you are "painting" you face haha!
1: Don't overpluck your brows....I will admit that I want some of mine to grow back, but it's so hard to resist the urge to pluck out those little hairs when they are growing back all crazy lol!

2: Always blend your lipliner and your lipstick, along with your gloss as well! Also...don't forget about blending your foundation too (I have talked about this before in my beauty no no's post)!

3: A full dramatic eye with a full on lip, as well as bronzer, and blush are going to be a total overload and definitely make you look way older!

4: DON'T forget...you really do need to throw out that mascara every three months! This will also eliminate flaking!

5: I have combined two for this last one...you don't want to over bronze or have too much illumination going on! Looking orange, or dirty, or just plain weird wouldn't be very hot lol!

Hope this was helpful guys!
-Happy painting,

2011 Beauty Blog Awards

Just recently I discovered that there are beauty blog awards! That is so exciting! How did I not know this lol? You don't even need a blog in order to nominate a blog, just an email address... just go to http://handmadereviews.net search the site for "beauty blog awards" and then nominate whichever blog you would like to. It's that easy! Good luck everyone!

Dramatic Smokey Eye

This is a dramatic smokey eye using the Urban Decay NAKED palette! I used a couple of other products but all the shadows were from the NAKED palette!

My New SMH Shadows

If you guys read my post from a few days ago you seen the one I made about Stars Make-up Haven. So I got my shadows from them the other day and am super excited to use them in a video haha! Anyways...I just wanted to share with you guys the two that I ordered! Since I have never ordered from them or used their products I didn't wanna go crazy and order a ton of shadows and then hate them. Truthfully I haven't even swatched them yet! But the colors are gorgeous in person!!
My first shadow is called "Over the Moon" and it's a really pretty goldish yellow color!

This shadow is probably my favorite of the two, it's called "Flaming-O" and it is a fun orangey/redish color! I can't wait to use this color haha!

Note: The shows are not magnetized so they do not stay in the shadow pots...you either need super glue or magnets on both to make them stick!

Videos

So I am not uploading a video today! If you read my blog yesterday then you know that I was really sick almost the entire day yesterday so I haven't had the chance to edit or upload anything! I literally slept almost all day long yesterday. Then I spent most of the morning trying to clean and disinfect my house before the kids came home from being with my mom. I just finished editing a video and I realized while doing so that I really am a lil disappointed in myself because I never realize until afterwards that it always seems to look like I have hardly no makeup on my eyes when I actually do! I just hate how washed out the camera makes things look so I am really going to try and start fixing that as soon as I can! I was looking at a couple of my older videos today and I didn't have that problem in them. I dunno what I was doing differently then than I am now, but I am going to try and fix it! Check back soon for a couple new videos!!

Sorry Everyone!!

Hey guys...I am so sorry that I did not upload any videos today! Me and the hubby have been super sick all day long so my mom took the lil ones for the night! We may have gotten food poisoning :( grr! Hopefully tomorrow will be back to normal and I will be able to upload again.
It made me feel horrible because the baby wanted me to hold her so so badly this morning but I had to try my best to stay away from her until my mom got here to get her! I can't wait to see her tomorrow!!

Why?

One simple question I am asking... why is it that people will say that they subscribed to your channel when they didn't...or they say that they followed your blog when they didn't? Then they turn around and ask you to follow or subscribe back. Someone please tell me why people do that. I can honestly say that I have NEVER done that! It's not like you can't clearly see that they didn't haha! Well just my thought on that for today lol!

How to clean your brushes...part 2

If you guys look back through my previous posts you will see that I did a how to clean your makeup brushes post before....difference now is that I am using a brush cleaner and finally made a video showing you how! I do still explain the other way though! Hope this was helpful and easy for ya!!

Stars Make-up Haven

I recently discovered this great website called Stars Makeup Haven and I will most likely soon be ordering from them! I will admit though my reasoning may be odd haha... You can purchase their individual shadows for like $6.00 and then buy individual pots for them for $2.00 and the pots are so cute, they remind me of the mac shadow pots but they have a star on the front of them lol! I had never heard of this website before until I came across an old video on youtube from juicystar07 and she was showing some of their products and the pigmentation look really good! If you have ever ordered from Coastal Scents or BH Cosmetics then you know that their products are the same thing but with different company names, I guess they order from the same warehouse or something!
The best part about the eyeshadow pots from SMH is that you can also fit your MAC shadows in them as well! If you really wanna get a cheap deal on the single shadows out of the pots then check out www.bhcosmetics.com their single shadows are just $2.77!! And for www.coastalscents.com they are $3.95.  My reasoning for only ordering from SMH was simply because when you order online you pay shipping and handeling and with it being atleast $7 I don't want to have to pay S&H for two different places!
Here is a pic of their pots!

My videos

I got to thinking about my videos that I do. Usually I try to film them with the natural sunlight shining in so that that you can all see what I am doing a lot better. Yes you can see what I am doing...but then the entire look seems to look totally different afterwards than it does in person! So I am not so sure that helps because the make-up I do always seems to look waaay more washed out on my eyes and I tend to look a lot more pale! It would really be great if you guys can let me know which one of my videos has the best lighting in your opinions and that way I have a good idea of when I should film or how I should have the lighting. For instance my Kim K. inspired look was filmed at nighttime and my fall make-up video was filmed during the day!

First Tag Video EVER!

I just upload my first tag video and I am really excited... I hope you all check it out and go subscribe to my channel! It's called "the accent tag", basically what it is is a video of me saying different words and answering some questions...the purpose of it is to see all the different ways people pronounce things depending on where you are from! I am obviously from the south if you haven't yet figured that one out haha!

If you guys say things differently than I do please do a video response! I love hearing everyone's different accents!

happy accenting haha,
Lindsey

Fall Trends

Here are a few fall trends and a couple fun going out looks that I found from frederick's of Hollywood!!

I LOVE these boots! I have some really similar to these but they aren't heels because I bought them when I was pregnant...
I really like the little rhinestones(I think that's spelled right haha) on the toes!
This is such a pretty and sexy going out dress for fall!

Lastly, this is such a fun dress for going out, and if the climate where you live isn't too cold it would be great for a New Year's party!!

You can order online at http://www.fredericks.com I probably will be haha! Although I do have a Frederick's store near me!

Dupes for MAC and Urban Decay

Randomly the other day I started searching youtube for dupe videos for the Coastal Scents or BH Cosmetics 2 neutral palette! Well to my surprise there were quite a few...and I won't lie I loooove dupes!! Seriously, who doesn't love finding a great products for waaay cheaper that's the same thing as the high end brands?! Well some of the dupes for the palette I don't know how true they are but one in particular caught my eye (probably because I use it quite often)! Well I decided to swatch it and see if the colors really were the same...I couldn't believe it!!! The are pretty much identical! The great dupe that I had found was for the MAC shadow "sable"!! So if you do go out and get this palette you are paying almost the same amount for 28 shadows as you would be for just the one from MAC!! I also found a couple more from ELF that were great dupes for Urban Decay's Ammo palette!! Great dupe especially since ELF products are super super cheap and pretty good quality as well!! Then I got super excited when I found a really good dupe for my favorite lipstick right now from MAC in the color "captive", and the dupe was from NYC for like a dollar or two!! I made this video to show my subscribers on youtube as well as my followers on here and anyone else that wants to watch, so that you can really see them side by side!! I hope you enjoy this awesome find as much as I did!!
Happy duping haha,
Lindsey

Back to School Make-up

For those of you that are going back to school, whether you're in a hurry to catch the bus for middle or high school or running late for a college class, this is super fast and easy!!! This is especially helpful for those of you who don't have the extra cash to go out and get the high end brands, and it will still look just as beautiful! Best part is that I used ALL drugstore products!

For the foundation I used L'oreal true match
Eyes: Sunlit Bronze quad from Maybelline and ELF eyeliner in brightening eye
mascara in Maybelline falsies volume
Fox in a Box blush from Hard Candy in "sweet and spicy"
Lips: lipliner in Ms. Terious from MaxFactor and NYX gloss in pink frost

I hope you all enjoy this video!

Beauty "No-No's"

I was recently on http://www.elleandblair.com and their post on the worst beauty habits got me to thinking! So here are a couple of other things to add to the list!

1. DON'T eat your hair (why do people do this?) it's just gross!!

2. Please bathe daily haha!

3. Biting your nails is definitely another big no-no...(yes they mentioed this but I wanted to say it again haha)

4. Did you know that it's actually bad for your hair to totally shampoo it all over every time it's washed? This is because shampoo takes out all of the natural oils in your hair, and it can tend to make your hair too dried out! For me the the oiliest part of my hair is my roots and scalp!

5. Another total unattractive thing is for someone to have is the dreaded "make-up line"...you know, where waaay too much foundation in the wrong shade was applied, and there is the awful foundation line dividing their face from their neck! Please ladies...blend down onto your neck atleast!

6. Applying lipliner and not blendiing and the outline is obvious!

7. Lastly, using muliple colors of shadow and not blending and then you can see the separation lines of the colors!

My attempt at finding a picture for you guys for that last one totally failed! I'm sure we have all seen it though!

Comment below if you guys have a few beauty "no-no's" and let me know?!

Have a great day guys!

Hair tutorial!

Hey everyone! I know it has been a while since I last posted and I have been super busy!! With Michael starting back school and changing my schedule around again, I now get up at like 5:30, and I am NOT a morning person haha! Anyways, I have been super busy with videos for everyone on my youtube page: http://youtube.com/user/foxxyswifey so I hope that everyone that sees this will check it out, and hopefully subscribe!!
It has taken me days to try and upload one video and it would load really far and then randomly cancel, I literally tried uploading it like 10 times! Then, someone told me to download Mozilla, because they had the same problem with Internet Explorer, and then I won't have that problem anymore...so I did and it finally worked! I am excited to share my first ever hair tutorial with all of you, I will admit though it's not my best work haha!!!!

This is a simple and pretty look! It will also add volume to your hair! I am using a Conair curling iron and the hair spray I am using is Nature's Therapy, it's a competing product of Sebastian shaper plus!! Enjoy guys!!

primed eyelids with soft ocre paintpot from MAC

blush: peaches from MAC
lips: lipliner "soar" from MAC, then "mocha" and "creme d' nude" lipsticks from MAC, and MAC lip conditioner(colorless)
