Happy New Year's

Happy New Year's everyone! This will be a short post... things are really busy with me right now. I am here visiting my hubby's family and we are all having a really great time!

I can't believe it's almost 2012 already... seems just like yesterday it was turning 2011 and I was here, at the exact same place, only pregnant haha!

The hubby and I are taking a little date night while his mom watches the kids, so we are happy that we get to do a little bit of celebrating this year since he wasn't home last year for New Year's! This year has been really wonderful to me:
I had a baby...
My hubby came home safely...
Found out some amazing news (you will all find out in a few months I am sure...and no I am NOT pregnant haha)...
I hope this year was filled with wonderful things and if not I hope that 2012 will turn things around for all of you! My New Year's resolution is sorta a couple of things haha... For one I am going to try my best to get my lighting for my videos better (I got a new light setup thing so I hope it helps lol). For my second thing is really more of a style resolution haha... I really want to start being a little bit more "dressy" even on casual days! I am just not really close to losing all of my baby weight and feeling better about wearing certain things so let's hope it stays that way haha!!

For some New Year's makeup check out my lil video tutorial!!
Hope you all enjoy! What's your New Year's resolution?

Traveling Makeup

So I was packing for a little trip... just 5 days, and I wanted to share with everyone a few of the things I am packing in my lil makeup train case!

This is the lil train case I am going to take... I have always been one to take way more than what I actually need. That's because I never know how I am going to do my makeup ahead of time haha! I really love this case, not only because of the polka dots, but because it has a basket thing that goes inside of it that provides sorta a harder casing and makes it more travel friendly lol!
Here is the inside of the train case with the little basket... along with a bunch of random makeup products and brands! I have some MAC, L'Oreal, and a few others.

The brushes I am taking are all cleaned and ready to go haha!! I didn't use the flash on this pic so sorry if it looks a little odd!

Here are a couple of the palette I am going to be taking (haven't decided on the Coastal Scents one yet though)... I am bringing something else along too but it's a surprise for a video haha!

Here are a few of my favorite beauty products right now that will definitely be coming along on my little trip lol...
Shell cream highliter from MAC
Laura Gellar blush
MAC studio careblend pressed powder
MAC shadow in retrospect (possible New Year's color that I love)
MAC paintpot in painterly
L'Oreal mascara in Voluminous False Lashes

Hope you guys enjoyed this little sneak peek inside my makeup travel bag!!

What's your New Year's Style?

Silver Versus Gold Metallics

First and foremost I hope everyone had a wonderful Christmas... I will hopefully soon be getting a new video uploaded... a little mini beauty haul to show you guys a couple of fun things that I got.

The holidays aren't over just yet though... New Year's is this weekend (I can't believe it)!! I put together a little collage with silvers and golds for some New Year's style inspiration. Which one is your New Year's pick? I personally really like the gold!

Holiday Hair

Ready for some creative curls? Well I have a few hairstyles that are simple to do...and are great for the holidays... I wanted to do an easy hair tutorial, but I can't get it up in time for the holidays so this is what I am doing instead!!

First Hairstyle for some really curly Creative Curls

  • Step #1 - On dry hair, wrap medium to large sized sections of your hair around a medium to large sized curling iron and curl your hair for 3 to 4 minutes.
  • Step #2 - Continue until every section of your hair is complete.
  • Step #3 - For a lasting finish, spray with a strong hold hairspray.
Second Hairstyle for some Wicked Waves

  • Step #1 - Blow-dry your hair until smooth.
  • Step #2 - Take large sections of your hair, wrap them around velcro rollers, and then spray a mist of hairspray all over and leave to dry.
  • Step #3 - Remove the velcro rollers and tease your hair all over to achieve maximum volume.
Third Hairstyle for some Natural Waves

  • Step #1 - Apply mousse or a curl enhancing product to your damp hair.
  • Step #2 - Use your diffuser attachment to scrunch dry your hair on a low setting to allow a more natural looking wave, and flip your hair upside down while scrunch drying to allow maximum volume.
  • Step #3 - To complete your look, spray your hair with shine serum for a natural feel and finish.
Obviously these pics are not of myself haha... they are just some animated pics that I found online when trying to find some simple steps that would be easy to understand! Hope these are all fun to try out and that you guys have some awesome holiday hair and a very Merry Christmas!!

Fun Decorating Idea

In my living room I have a huge canvas painting that my mom and I did while I was pregnant... I wanted to do something fun to it for this holiday season... soooooo, I decided to wrap it up!

This is what it looked like before...sorry for the lighting... I messed up my camera settings somehow!

This is after a little holiday love got a hold of it haha! I just wrapped it with some shiny blue(excuse the glare on the present/painting) wrapping paper...then I took some gold shiny ribbon and cut it to be the right length. I ended up having to just put regular bows on it because I discovered that tape and this ribbon did not mix!!

What are some DIY decorating ideas that you guys know? Please share them with me...I wish I knew lots and lots of different decorating ideas for the holidays...but sadly I just have a few little tricks up my sleeve haha!

Santa and Sugar Cookies

Santa and Sugar Cookies

This Christmas have some fun and make some really cute sugar cookies! That's my plans for tomorrow with my oldest(he is the only one old enough to help decorate haha)! I have lots of cute cookie cutter shapes that are perfect for Christmas time... like little stars, christmas trees, and gingerbread men. Here is a homemade recipe for some awesome sugar cookies:

3/4 cup of shortening or margarine (I use the margarine)
1 cup of sugar
2 eggs
1tsp vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups of flour (sifted)
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp of salt
I also added 1/2 tsp of almond extract (you don't have to do this though)

Then after you have made your dough, refrigerate it over night... this will make it easier to roll out when you want to cut it into different shapes!

Bake at 400 degrees for about 5-7 minutes depending on your oven the time will change so just keep a good eye on them!!

TO DECORATE
Use food coloring in whatever colors you like....I love color, so I am going to use all different ones haha.
I use holiday sprinles and colored sugar for decorations. As well as some green and red M&M's because they are soooo good haha!

ICING
Ingredients for icing:
1 cup confectioners sugar
2 teaspoons of milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
1/4 teaspoon almond extract
assorted food coloring
1. In a small bowl, stir together confectioners' sugar and milk until smooth. Beat in corn syrup and almond extract until icing is smooth and glossy. If icing is too thick, add more corn syrup.
2. Divide the icing into separate bowls if you plan on doing all different colors... then use food coling in whatever colors (I love color so mine are going to be all different colors)! Then you can just ice them like normal.
This icing will dry hard and should be somewhat shiny too!!

Holiday Decor Deals

I just took a short little trip down the road to the Dollar Store and I wanted to share with you guys what I got! For starters, let me just say that I absolutely LOVE decorating for the holidays, so when I see cute decorations I always wanna buy them haha... I went to the store to pick up some eggs and some candy for stocking stuffers and came out with some really cute decorations.

This one is a little...or should I say "big"bell!
These are just some oversized ornaments...
These are my favorite!! Some big huge cany and candy canes haha!

I even picked up some really pretty colorful shiny ribbon lol....the gold one looks yellow in this picture...oopsy!

So the best part about all of the decorations (except for the ribbon) is that they were originally $2 and were 75% off!! I ended up getting the huge ornaments for just  $0.50.... now is definitely the time to start checking places for decoration deals, or right after Christmas everything gets really cheap!!  I plan on doing some decoration shopping right after Christmas, me and the hubby decided that next year I can get my own tree and decorate however I want, since I like all the colorful and fun stuff and he is WAY more traditional! Our tree this year is pretty colorful, but not to the extreme that I want it to be haha! So I am starting my holiday shopping early...and I do mean EARLY!

Chritmas Party Time

Chritmas Party Time

With Christmas just around the corner...literally...I know know that lots of you are going to be going to parties. I thought that putting together a little collage of a party outfit would be a neat idea to give a little Christmas party inspiration! The little cocktail dress has those holiday looking sequins that seems to always be very festive this time of year haha! Pair it will some black tights for when it's chilly outside and add a black turtleneck underneath and you can be stylish and yet not freeze to death in the middle of winter lol. To play it down, be sure to choose some suede or cloth type shoes, not the shiny leathery ones. This look could either be paired with some red heels and a red clutch for some pop of color, or just keep it simple with some black booties and a black clutch. With all the sequins going on, adding too much jewelry and accessories would just be too much, so I would keep it simple with some stud earrings or some small dangly ones, that aren't too dramatic.

This look is just my inspiration for what I might wear to a Christmas party... If you don't have the money to spend on buying everything brand new what I suggest is hitting up your local thrift stores! They are always my go-to place! I absolutely love going to thrift stores, I usually always find awesome things for super cheap prices haha! Oh and if you shop at your local Goodwill, they give student discounts if you have your college ID, as well as a military discount if you have that instead!

Skin like Cleopatra

Skin like Cleopatra

Cleopatra was known for her beautiful skin. Now I am going to tell you just how she did it and how you can get it too!

She soaked in a bathtub full of fresh milk accented with honey... unfortunately we don't all live on or near a farm so we don't all have access to fresh milk, so regular milk will do! As I was watching the tv show "The Doctors", they were showing remedies around the world for health and beauty, and this one came on and I wanted to share it with everyone so so badly!!

Use about 4 cups of milk and just a little bit of the honey. No the tub isn't filled totally with just milk, it's water down, sorta making it "skim, I mean skin milk" haha! Add these to your bathtub while it's filling up! Then just soak for about 20 minutes. It's very dydrating to the skin, so doing this may be very helpful if you have dry skin in general or even if your skin is dry due to the harsh effects of wintertime! To be in true Cleopatra style add some flower petals to your bath, they don't do anything for you health or beauty wise, but they definitely add to the Cleopatra effect haha!
WARNING! I don't recommend this if your are lactose intolerant though. As far as I know it's totally safe otherwise.

New Year's Makeup

Hey guys.. Although I haven't quite figured out yet if any of you have switched over to this channel I am still going to continue to post everything on here! My newest tutorial is a wearable look for New Year's, you can pretty much wear this for whenever you like, but it has a little more glitter and glam for the holidays! PLEASE READ FIRST: I HAVE BEEN TRYING REALLY HARD TO GET LIGHTING RIGHT FOR MY PICS AND VIDEOS AND AM HAVING A HARD TIME DOING SO! IF YOU GUYS HAVE ANY IDEAS OR SUGGESTIONS THAT WOULD BE AWESOME, AS YOU CAN SEE EVERYTHING LOOKS SOOOOO WASHED OUT AND I DON'T KNOW HOW TO GET THE COLOR AS TRUE AS POSSIBLE ON FILM!

As you can see I can't seem to fix my lighting so that what I do doesn't look so washed out! In person it is always so much more dramatic than it is on film! Help!!!!
Then when I film I look super pale and washed out! Any tips?

Phases of the Moon

Tonight we were driving to go get Michael and the moon just looked so crazy!
My phone camera wasn't picking it up that well so I found this one online! It's the closest I could find to the way it looked... It just really got me to thinking about how crazy it is that we all see the same moon no matter where we live at in the world. It is the one thing that sorta connects us in a way! Of course some of us see it at totally different hours though, but it is still just something sorta neat to think about!

Sephora Stocking Stuffers

I was shopping at Sephora not long ago and they have a little section near the front of the counter with lots of little goodies... I just thought sharing them would be nice. They would make great stocking stuffers or just gifts in general!
This cute little compact comes with 9 shadows, 4 glosses, and 1 blush, and it's only $15!
They have lots of different roll on perfumes...this one is $19....which is far less than what you would pay for the full size bottle!
Benefit Some kind-a gorgeous is offered in a travel size for just $9...
Their nano lipliners and eyeliners are amazing and are just $5!! I have purchased quite a few of these in my day haha..
They have lots of little mini mascara's...this particular one is $9....
Benefit's tan about town is one that I personally purchased...it's priced for $12 online, but I got it for $10 in store!
Make up Forever travel size Mist & Fix is another item I purchased...it's just $8!!

You could even buy bigger gift sets and divide them out to make several gifts if you wanted to! I hope this helped give you guys some ideas for cheaper alternatives for gifts! To view more of their gifts go here---> Sephora Stocking Stuffers

Bad Baby Washes!!

Recently there were ingredients found in probably America's most trusted baby care line, "Johnson & Johnson"! I couldn't believe it when I heard it myself! Don't fear though...it's not in all of their products, I have only found it in their regular baby shampoo and baby wash! I have heard that it is in others also but I have a few different ones and neither of the ingredients are in any of the others that I own, just the regular wash and shampoo!! The ingredients are not only harmful to us but especially our little ones.
Call me crazy but now I am frantically searching the ingredients on all the products I am buying for my baby. Not only that but not too long before I heard about all of this craziness with Johnson & Johnson the Dr. told us that the lil rash Elizabeth had was baby eczema, and get this....apparently the ingredients found are said to cause eczema as well! Soooo crazy!
Thankfully it's not in all the products though. I currently have switched my baby shampoo to the Natural Care line that they have!
I don't like the way their lotion smells but surprisingly I really like how the shampoo smells! Since my lil angel has eczema we use a different wash other than the Natural Care. I use Cetaphil brand for her wash. I don't know yet how well she is going to do with the Cetaphil considering I used it on her for the first time tonight, but it's what her pediatrician recommended for her so let's pray it does good for her!! I have looked at a few other brands as well and haven't spotted the ingredients in any of them either thankfully. So next time you are out shopping check those ingredients for quaternium-15 which releases  formaldehyde (eeeew gross)! The second ingredients to look out for is 1,4-dioxane, which is considered a carcinogen!

Lip Trends for Fall

This fall the number one makeup trend seems to be a bold lip! I love this, and I have always kinda been the one to not really care if it's "in season" or not haha... I just feel like if you love it then wear it! There are a few steps to follow in order to pick out your perfect shade and then to pull it off.

STEP 1: Figure out your undertone! If you don't know for sure whether you have cool or warm undertones a cool trick is to put your hair up in a white towel and wrap a white towel around you, if your skin looks bluish then you have cool undertones and if it looks yellowish then you have warm undertones!!

STEP 2: Prep your lips by exfoliating once a week. Also, apply a lipbalm a few minutes before applying any other products to your lips, this will help prevent flaky lips!

HOT SHADE NO. 1: Merlot or Burgandy shades are perfect for fall! For fair skin if the dark contrast is too much for your skin tone then go for a gloss!!
If your skin is more medium and you have cool tones go for a blue red shade. If your skin is more warm go for an orange based color!!
If your skin is darker go for a deeper shade with a glossy finish! Darker skin tones can pull off darker lips!!
HOT SHADE NO. 2:  BERRY!! For fair skin choose something a little brighter but pinky. Medium skin pick shades with a true berry hue. Lastly, for darker skin tones pick a deep berry color!
HOT SHADE NO. 3: Next up is Fuchsia!! For those fair and medium skinned go for a bright true fuchsia shade... For darker tones go for maybe a magenta shade.
HOT SHADE NO. 4: NEXT WE HAVE METALLICS, BE SURE TO CHOOSE THESE VERY CAREFULLY FOR YOUR SKIN TONES THOUGH!
HOT SHADE NO. 5: I feel like this next one is a no brainer haha... BRICK RED!! If you have fair skin choose a color with a matte finish! For medium tones find a shade with an orangey rust to it... and for darker tones go for a true brown red!!

NOW TO GET A PERFECT APPLICATION WITH GREAT STAYING POWER DON'T FORGET TO USE A LIPLINER!!

bold red lips and fun fuchsias,
-Lindz

Best Drugstore Mascara

I recently became a new fan to a drugstore mascara! I have used all different types over the years, everything from Maybelline to Chanel... and for so so long I used the L'oreal double extend tubes and was such a huge huge fan. Once again L'oreal has done it, they make so many great products and I am always raving about them. I decided to try their Voluminous Million Lashes mascara and it is AMAZING!!! I am loving it! I think until I find something that makes my lashes look this good I will definitely be sticking to it as far as drugstore mascaras go haha...

This is the double extend tubes, I do still like it but it doesn't do half of the amazingness as the Voluminous haha!

This is my new favorite AWESOME drugstore find hehe!! I really recommend this to anyone wanting to try a new drugstore mascara! I didn't think I would like it but I really do!

mascaras galore and long lashes,

Amanda Bynes Inspired Makeup

First off please pray for my mom, she is having surgery right now! I just pray that it all goes smoothly and recovers really well!! This is definitely on my mind a lot since she has a heart problem and has a pacemaker and defibilator....so please keep her in your prayers today!

So I was searching online for celebrity makeup looks and decided to try this one out!
I have always loved Amanda Bynes, and she is just too funny!

For this look the first thing I did was primed my eyelids with soft ochre paint pot from MAC, then I used Polyester Bride from the Ammo palette from Urban Decay, as well as virgin, smog, and sin from the Urban Decay NAKED palette... I used MAC's carbon shadow for the lashline and charcoal brown from MAC for my eyebrows, and L'oreal voluminous mascara!
On my cheeks I used peachykeen from MAC..
And for my lips I used a lipliner from MAC called pink treat, then I used captive lipstick from MAC and went over them with electro lush lipglass! After I filmed it I toned my lips down just a bit just for everyday wear by using a little bit of Fabby lipstick from MAC!
Hope you guys all enjoy this video!

Happy Halloween!!

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope you all had a great halloween, and a safe one too! If you have been reading my posts here recently then you know that I blogged about taking the kids to a Halloween party tonight... we went to that and went trick or treating and they had soooo much fun!! I didn't get to film a video of all the goodies that I made for the party because my day was waaaay busier than what I thought it would be, but I did film a lil video afterwards so maybe I will load it tomorrow! Here are some pics from our night!
Some of the goodies and decorations.... the homemade confetti cupcakes that were delicious (my friend Stephanie made them)....plus the witch hats that I made! Don't you just love my Hello Kitty camera case on the table? haha

The kiddos.... Michael was Batman but you can't see his costume here.... and Elizabeth was a ballerina (this worked out because it was really chilly out), I was bummed that her big cute headband was nowhere to be found though! Her lil ballet slippers tied and were tutu cute haha!

Baby's first Halloween!!! Daddy carried her the whole time we were trick or treating and she was sooo sleepy that one minute she was wide awake and the next she passed out on his shoulder snuggled up to him under her ballet blanket.... oh how she always melts my heart! Well it was a busy busy day and I have been up since before 5 a.m. and had only 2 and a 1/2 hrs of sleep so I am off to bed!

-ghoulish goodies and trick or treaters,

MAC starter kit

Everyone seems to have a MAC starter kit video... well those that are huge MAC fans anyways haha! I decided I need to get with the game and get mine out... but I didn't want to make it one of those super long videos that everyone is just wishing they would move onto the next thing and hurry and tell us what they like... I know you guys know what I mean, sometimes it is really annoying wanting to know something but the person takes ten minutes talking about just one thing before they go on to tell us what's next! Well no worries here, I just decided to make mine a really fun slide show explaining all I like, and the best part is that I did it in less than two minutes! I couldn't believe it! Here it is, and I hope this helps...

Green Smokey Eye

My newest video is up...actually I have two, but if you follow me on here than you may have already noticed that I changed the name of this blog... it's now "foxxybeauty", which I am really excited about! I originally was just going to create an entire separate blog for my beauty stuff but noone seems to mind when I post other stuff on here besides beauty, so I decided to just keep it simple and keep it to one!

Now, for my newest video here it goes...

Green smoke anyone?
To create this I used...

First I primed my eyes with Urban Decay eyeshadow primer potion...

For shadows- ricepaper from MAC, jungle from Chanel, and I used two bright green shadows from BH Cosmetics from their cool matte series in the numbers 17 and 14! As well as a shade from their warm matte series in the number 13!! I used charcoal brown from MAC for my eyebrows too...

To line my eyes I used number 10 from Chanel which is a black waterproof eyeliner (or you could use smolder from MAC)...they went over that with a matte black shadow, I used carbon from MAC.
For mascara I used L'oreal double extend tubes mascara...

On my cheeks I am wearing dame blush from MAC and for the lips I lined them with native nude from Sephora and then used a lipstick from MAC called Fabby...then just went over them with MAC lipglass in "the wee coquet"(it was in their holiday collection last year)!
I didn't use too much for the lips but I wish I had've haha!

Sorry that I couldn't get the lighting right to do a good pic for this look, everything made it look EXTREMELY washed out! It was a lot darker than it looks in the pics!
